From the car park behind Geroldsau, the route leads over the Bernickelfels and to the Scherrhof forest restaurant, where there is a place to stop for refreshments. It continues down into the Eberbachtal and out to the Bütthof. The impressive waterfall path leads back to the starting point, and in May/June, the rhododendron blossoms that give the trail its name can be admired.
