Loop
This route leads through the dense coniferous and deciduous forests of the northern Black Forest near Baden-Baden. The circular hike starts at the Bütthof hiking parking lot. The trail first leads uphill in a southerly direction to the Eberkopf and then over the Steinberg. A particular highlight is the view from the rock formations over the Grobbach valley. The route continues down into the gorge to the Geroldsau waterfall. There, the Grobbach stream plunges over a several-meter-high drop into a natural rock basin. Fire salamanders and grey wagtails can often be observed in the damp slope areas around the waterfall. As the paths in the gorge and around the viewpoints are often rooty, stony and slippery when wet, sturdy footwear and surefootedness are required.
