Best trails near Busental

Right at the beginning you have a great view of the Steinheim basin from the Burgstall. It goes through juniper heaths and a varied landscape and you can always learn interesting facts about the formation and geology of the crater basin. In between there are places steeped in history and opportunities to rest.

This route follows stage 5 of the Albschäferweg, starting at Schafhof Steinheim and ending in Zang. Departing the crater landscape near Steinheim, the trail passes a merino sheep farm and climbs the Hitzinger Steige toward the Zanger Berg. It leads through the Gnannental into the scenic Wental valley, famous for its mystifying Felsenmeer and bizarre dolomite rock formations, before reaching Zang. This route is stage 4 of the Albschäferweg, starting in Gerstetten and ending at Schafhof Steinheim.
