Best trails near Obertorturm

Very nice excursion that leads from Schaffhausen to the Rhine Falls. It starts at the train station and then continues along the Rhine to the waterfalls. One can stay there for a while and then walk back via Flurlingen on the opposite bank of the river. The path always follows the water and there are some historical buildings along the way, such as the Laufen Castle which is nice to see.

This segment of the Via Rhenana leads along one of the longest hiking trails in Switzerland, following the historic waterway between Untersee and Hochrhein in ten days. The fourth stage leads in four hours from Schaffhausen to Rheinau with its baroque monastery church. It is a former Benedictine abbey on the Rhine island. The route passes through Neuhausen and the famous Rhine Falls with a stop at Laufen Castle. It then continues along the Rhine past the Mannhausen control tower to Rheinau. There the trail turns and leads through the Swabian forest peninsula (Schwaben) along the river on German territory back to Schaffhausen.
