This route follows stage 7 of the Westweg, a long-distance trail from Pforzheim to Basel, beginning in Hausach and ending in Schonach. Leaving Hausach, the path climbs past the medieval Burg Husen castle ruins and follows a steep, narrow ridge line to the Haseman-Hütte on the Farrenkopf. Along the way, there are always views of the town and the surrounding Gutachtal valley. One highlight is the viewpoint at Karlstein, a striking rock formation. With a bit of luck, deer can be spotted in the forest or the sounds of a woodpecker can be heard. The trail is a great way to experience the nature of the Black Forest.
