Best trails in Forollhogna National Park
Forollhogna National Park encompasses mountain and plateau areas between Gauldalen, Orkdalen, and the upper section of Østerdalen. The park features lush moors and sparkling mountain lakes, bordered by forested pastoral valleys and mountain villages in Nord-Østerdalen and Gauldalen. The highest peak in this region is Forollhogna, rising to 1,332 meters.
The famous pilgrimage route to Nidaros, known as Østerdalsleden, crosses the park, home to Norway's most productive wild reindeer population.
Forollhogna offers excellent opportunities for day trips and longer hikes. It features a significant network of trails well-suited for cycling. Old paths and animal trails connect directly from the villages and farms to the mountains. There aren't any cabins in the area.
