Beautiful trail in the heart of Abel Tasman National Park. Do note - requires a hike in or a skipper boat to access trailhead. Not on road system.

Gorgeous hike through Abel Tasman National Park. Getting there with the boat was a lot of fun and very interesting to learn about the history of the park. The hike crosses numerous gorgeous beaches and gives you sublime views over some bays like Frenchman Bay.We had to take the high tide detour around Torrent Bay, which adds quite a bit of time to the hike but is very beautiful. I recommend taking quick detours to see Cleopatra's Pool, Observation Beach (my favourite one, absolutely georgeous and nobody goes there!) or even Anchorage Bay and Watering Cove if you're motivated. No sandflies for us, we were very lucky. Overall, it is a long but beautiful hike that allows you to discover a significant park of the coastal track. You'll walk with birds and crickets singing around you, making the hike even more enjoyable.

A beautiful loop through the northern part of Abel Tasman National Park. You'll do a good part of the elevation gain at the beginning to climb Gibbs Hill. The view at the top of Gibbs Hill when looking towards the east coast is unfortunately obstructed by the vegetation, but is worth the detour nevertheless. The prettiest part of the track is definitely along the coast, from Anapai Bay to Whariwarangi Bay. You're crossing stunning pristine beaches with barely anyone, all of them are a perfect spot for a break or a swim. You don't really feel the 975m of elevation gain as it's very scattered from start to finish. If you get lucky, you might see some penguins on some of the beaches ! Overall, a great day hike with plenty of spots to chill and enjoy the unique vibe of the park.
