Best forest trails in Augsburg - Western Forests Nature Park
The Augsburg - Western Forests Nature Park is Central Swabia's only nature park. This popular excursion destination is just outside Augsburg and only an hour away from Munich.
Typical of the landscape in this region are the wooded ridges and the stream valleys running predominantly from south to north. There are three landscape areas in the nature park: the "Stauden" in the south, the "Holzwinkel" in the north and the "Reischenau" in the middle. The "Stauden" are characterized by wooded hills, picturesque stream valleys and small villages - here you can relax and unwind. The vast forests and hills of the "Holzwinkel" are ideal for cyclists and anyone looking for a certain seclusion. Those looking for botanical rarities will find what they are looking for in the "Reischenau", a former lowland moor area.
