This short and easy walk highlights what used to be an ancient lake. Long since dry, the exposed lake bed has sculpted sand dunes and grassy woodlands making a habitat for pink cockatoos and mobs of kangaroos. The trail is well-marked but there is no mobile coverage within the park so you may want to download the map for offline use as a precaution.

This is a truly immersive experience that requires you to book a tour with an NPWS Aboriginal Ranger. During the 2-hour tour (offered most days, book in advance) among the Walls of China learn about the 40,000+ years of Aboriginal cultural history around Lake Mungo and the greater Willandra Lakes. The lakes have been dry for thousands of years, so no swimmers needed here.
