Trail reviews for Heathcote National Park
Really fun and varied walk through some lovely parts of Heathcote National Park. The kingfisher pool is a highlight. I started at Waterfall and then caught a train back to the starting point from Heathcote
The ground was dry, the Friendly and Pipeline trail was well maintained. Once it deviates from the pipeline trail, there’s no sign posted to turn to Eddies Lookout track. The track is narrow, overgrown with bushes up to shoulder height. Must wear long sleeves and long pants, easy to get lots of scratches. The track can be visible and invisible due to bushes. You will cross two creeks, water level was low but I could imagine it would be impassable if it rains heavily. The outlook at the top of the hill was very beautiful and breathtaking. It was worth it. I was amazed to see such stunning and large forest views like this at Heathcote National Park, and the trail starts not far from the station too.
Wow, the pools are worth the walk The trail is hard, constantly rocky and up and down. Some parts feel decently maintained but in other parts I had to stop and look at the map. I think many just go in and out on the Bullawaring track, but this map is a long cut. Note there’s also a camping ground that you can book, it’s part of Heathcote national park
Waterfall station to heathcote.
Really lovely loop walk from end of Warabin St in Heathcote. We went clockwise and lost the trail before coming to Kingfisher pool but was able to connect again and follow where we were on app. Might have been easier to follow in anticlockwise direction. A bit scrambly in places, but with good shoes and good conditions (around 24°) it wasn't too hard-going. Nice collection of small birds along the way (yellow robins, white-throated tree creeper, back-faced Monarch, brown thornbills, firetails, splendid wrens, scrub-wrens, grey fantails and New Holland honeyeatera) and loads of beautiful skinks and eastern water dragons down by the pools and creeks.
Beautiful remote walk on the ridge of Heathcote Creek.
