Visitors will not be disappointed when at the top of Bald Rock. The views over the surrounding lowlands are nothing short of spectacular and make the climb short climb well worth the effort.

The Bald Rock walking track takes visitors through a short section of bush before emerging onto the largest granite monolith in all of Australia - Bald Rock. The water streaked dome juts high above the surrounding forest and gives remarkable views, especially at sunrise and sunset. In wet weather the track on Bald Rock can be quite slick so it's best to be prepared with proper footwear or to take the Bungoona Walk as an alternate which is slightly easier.

This route connects a series of fire trails so is good for mountain bikes or trail running. Along the way, you will have views of Bald rock largest granite rock in Australia.
It loops up to near the trailhead for several walks in the park so you can extend it to one of the more scenic routes in the park, like the extra 4 km loop to the summit of Bald Rock, most of which are for walking only and not for mountain biking.

Early walk up Bald Rock in an attempt to watch the sunrise. Unfortunately the fog got in our way. Beautiful views once it started to clear. Lots of wildlife - the resident lyrebird even put on a beautiful display only a few meters off the pathway. The walk up the face, and down Bungoona trail was completed in just under two hours.
An easily accessible hike, particularly now that the road from Stanthorpe is sealed the entire way. Some fitness required if you wish to climb the bald rock however access to the top is also possible by going around the rock rather than over it. The views at the top are spectacular with abundant wildflowers in bloom at the moment. (September) Good amount of parking, suitable also for larger vehicles. Pit toilet available but serviced regularly.
