Historical hiking trail across Germany The hiking trail of German unity connects the easternmost German city of Görlitz with the westernmost German city of Aachen over a length of 1080 km. The idea for this hiking trail came about after the fall of the Wall in 1990, when members of the Lions clubs Meinerzhagen-Kierspe and Meißen met near the city of Meißen. Since the hiking route only uses existing and marked hiking trails, all 40 sections of the route are easy to walk on.
