The route begins in the quiet Nonnweiler, which lies in the middle of the Saar-Hunsrück nature park. Right at the beginning of the hike, a slight incline awaits you to get to the dam of the Nonnweiler reservoir. With 20 million m³ of water, it is the largest reservoir in Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate. In addition to being used as drinking water, the reservoir is also used to generate electricity.
