This route, one of the Teuto loops, is a certified premium hiking trail. Immediately after the start at the Teutohang car park in Riesenbeck, 256 steps await hikers. After this, arguably the most strenuous part of the entire route, has been completed, a magnificent view of the Münsterland opens up. The varied Waldauenweg, which lies in the middle of the premium hiking region "Tecklenburger Land", leads past rocks and meadows and through mixed beech forests over the ridge of the Teutoburg Forest.
