Best forest trails in Greifswald

A round trip all the way along the Ryck River. It begins near the center of Greifwald and leads to Wieck. It's fun to cross the bridge and walk to the top of the pier with a view of the Danish Wiek. Ideal for a run or a bike ride with plenty of places to rest or eat if desired.

This route can be started at the Wiecker bridge or at the pedestrian bridge at the museum harbor in Greifswald city center. A large part of the route runs along the Ryck, the rest on the north side of the river, mostly along the Ladebower Chaussee. The route offers beautiful views of the river, the swamps, and the city itself.

The ruins of Eldema Monastery and its remains give an idea of how big the original monastery actually was. The ruin is in a public park. Information boards have been set up at various points that provide information about the location of the walls and parts of the building and show the floor plan of the monastery with historical details. An impressive monastery as a witness of history today.
