#2 - Naturpark Steinhuder Meer
Lower Saxony, GermanyThe Steinhuder Meer nature park extends over around 420 square kilometers. The core zone of the area is the lake "Steinhuder Meer". In addition, it includes many protected areas, which in turn represent habitats for flora and fauna. White-tailed eagles, water buffalo and bog frogs live in the extensive moorland, floating meadows, dunes, mountains and shady forests of the Ice Age moraine landscape. At the three information centers, Naturparkhaus Mardorf, Steinhude and Insel Wilhelmstein, visitors will find many details about the natural features of the region. Entry to the Nature Park House is free. It is open from Tuesday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on weekends from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
