Best beach trails in Lörrach

From Lörrach via Inzingen and Degerrfelden to Rheinfelden and on the Swiss side through Rheinfelden to Basel. The route follows the main road through Kaiseraugst and Biersfelden past the large chemical and pharmaceutical plants. Back on the other side of the Rhine, it becomes quieter again along the meadow in Riehen.

This cross-border tour leads from Lörrach through the "Three-Country Corner" to the Rhine Side Canal (Grand Canal d'Alsace). The route follows flat, well-maintained cycling and hiking paths through the Wiese Valley and the Rhine Plain. A major highlight is crossing the border into France and enjoying the expansive views across the Rhine waterway. The trail is technically very simple and, due to the level terrain, is perfectly suited for an extended trip by bike or on foot.

The little tour of Alsace starts at the Lörrach-Stetten train station, but can just as easily start in Weil am Rhein or Basel. In France, cycle paths are often not signposted. Some of the hiking trails can be followed here. Between Saint Louis and Attenschwiller you unfortunately have to take the busy D473 for a few minutes. The route leads through tranquil villages with interesting half-timbered houses and churches. On the hills in Alsace you have a beautiful view of the Black Forest....
