This popular circular walk in Saxon Switzerland near Hohnstein, offering stunning views, begins
at the car park on the outskirts of Hohnstein. The path leads through the village for a short distance before entering the forest – also known as ‘Brand’, as a devastating fire raged here in the 18th century. The route continues beneath the spreading tree canopy to the Brandaussicht viewpoint. The Brandaussicht viewpoint, with the Brandbaude hut, is one of the most beautiful vantage points in Saxon Switzerland, offering magnificent views across the Polenz Valley.
If you take the same path back from the Brandbaude, the route is suitable for wheelchair users. It is also dog-friendly and suitable for pushchairs.
