Rathen - Polenztal Valley via Hockstein

This is idyllically situated on the River Elbe. From there, the Knotenweg trail leads to the famous Hockstein viewpoint, featuring some of the area’s unique rock formations. The return journey takes you through the romantic Polenz Valley, alongside the river of the same name. If you keep a sharp eye out, you may spot dippers here. The walk starts at the ferry crossing in the spa town of Rathen. You can reach this by S-Bahn or by car (paid car park on the banks of the River Elbe). The spa town itself is restricted to residents’ traffic only and is therefore not accessible by car. The walk is within the National Park; you must not stray from the paths and dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.
