Over the Bastion to Hockstein

This hike starts on the banks of the Elbe in the town of Wehlen and leads steadily up to the Stone Table. Continue along the "Fremdenweg" to the famous Bastei. These magnificent rock formations can be reached via a sandstone bridge. You should definitely stop here for a moment and enjoy the breathtaking view of the Elbe valley. The route now takes you along an adventurous path - consisting of many steps and small rocky ledges - to the Schwedenlöchern and finally to Amselsee. You can either take a short break here or start the ascent to the Hockstein right away. The Hockstein is a rock spur rising high out of the Polenztal valley. Finally, it gets adventurous again: you now climb down a steep and narrow iron staircase through narrow crevices into the Polenztal.
