Lohmen: Via the Schwedenlöcher to the Health Resort of Rathen to the Bastion

This trail leads to two classics with a lot of history and great views - the Schwedenlöcher and the Basteibrücke. In between, there is always the opportunity to take a break and stop for refreshments. The start and end point is the paid car park or the bus stop in the immediate vicinity of the famous Bastei. From there, following the "blue line" markings for the entire hike, the route first leads into the valley to the Schwedenlöchern. Many steps lead down into this gorge-like ravine. Once in the valley, the path leads through the Amselgrund. Passing the idyllic Amselsee lake and Grünbach stream, the route heads towards the spa town of Rathen. There are several good places to stop for refreshments. Take a sharp right along a well-maintained path with a few steps to the second highlight of the tour - the Bastei Bridge. There are great views along the way and it is worth taking a few detours to various viewpoints and the remains of the medieval Neurathen fortifications.
