The tour starts at the railway station in Winterberg and first runs through the tourist town to the St. Georgs-Schanze with a magnificent panoramic view over the Hochsauerland. A beautiful forest path takes you to the most famous mountain in North Rhine-Westphalia, the Kahler Asten. There you can climb the Astenturm tower or hike the Heidelehrpfad nature trail with its 15 stations and the Lennequelle spring. You reach the "Helleplatz" car park via the forest and can take the bus back to Winterberg from there. The route continues through the mixed forest to the holiday resort of Züschen.
