This scenic route leads around the Baldeneysee, where the beautiful Ruhr Valley landscape can be experienced up close. It starts at the parking lot at the EWSC, in an easterly direction to the Hardenbergufer, where the lake is crossed over the bridge. Mainly along the shore, it goes back. Forests, hills, narrow paths, and meadows await.
The ruins of the Esener Isenburg are passed above the lake and the small forest areas of Baldeneyer Wald and Kruppwald. The Heisinger Bogen bird sanctuary awaits in the south of Essen. There are a few places to stop for refreshments along the route.
