Breitenberge - Harz Tour 3

This circular tour offers a deep immersion in the lush spruce and beech forests of the southern Harz and leads to the panoramic peaks of the Breitenberge. The trail is characterised by steady ascents and descents through quiet valleys and offers a peaceful escape into the nature of Lower Saxony. Hikers enjoy sweeping views across the Oder Valley to the distant peaks of the Hochharz. The region is steeped in history, as the surrounding forests were once a vital resource for the historic mining industry in nearby Bad Lauterberg, which dates back to the 16th century. A particular highlight in the area is the Bismarck Tower on the Kummelberg, which was built in honour of the first German Chancellor. The route is characterised by well-maintained forest paths and soft forest soil and presents a physical challenge due to its hilly topography, while remaining technically accessible for those with good stamina.
