Amid the idyllic Harz landscape lies the Okertalsperre near Schulenburg, one of the most popular destinations in the Harz region. 46.85 million m³ of water can be stored behind the 260 m long and 67 m high dam wall. This route leads from the parking lot at the Vorsperre around the eastern arm of the largest dam in Lower Saxony and offers a lot of variety with great views, idyllic forest and lovely places to stop for refreshments. Hikers for whom this round is too short can extend the tour and hike around the dam's western arm.
