Varied trekking and hiking route with plenty of climbing opportunities from the Eibsee to the Zugspitze in Bavaria.
The route to the Zugspitze from the Eibsee via the Wiener-Neustädter-Hütte is less well-known than the route through the Höllental, but no less beautiful or less spectacular. The via ferrata (Stopselzieher) to the Wiener-Neustädter-Hütte is also not particularly difficult (A - B). However, a good level of fitness and climbing experience are still a prerequisite for the tour, as there is quite a decent ascent before the start and a further 3 hours of via ferrata ahead. An extended rest at the hut is therefore highly recommended, and you can also spend the night here (see tips). From the former Ehrwalder Zugspitzbahn railway station, it is then not far. A short stopover is recommended here before the last 30 minutes to the western summit of the Zugspitze. It is possible to return to the Eibsee on one of the cable cars. A ticket is required for this.
