Popular circular hike in the Upper Bavarian Forest Nature Park, Bavaria.
The hike begins at the overview board in the centre of Falkenstein. You walk across the market square into the park path. You then pass below Falkenstein Castle. A detour there is of course possible. The markings lead on to Mühlthal. There, turn right at the small bridge and then keep left. The path climbs past the mill. In the adjoining forest, the path climbs more steeply (Schweinsberg). You then reach a hiking trail sign and the path leads down to Hagenau at the foot of the Sengersberg. The path leads back via Ettmannsdorf and then a short stretch along the little-used GV road towards Völling. Shortly before entering Völling, turn right onto the hiking trail uphill again and then downhill towards Mühlthal. Above Mühlthal, you should definitely enjoy the view over the marvellous Perlbachtal valley. Take the familiar path back to the market square.
