You start the hike at the overview board in the car park at the entrance to Rettenbach (coming from the main road). From here you walk a little way through the village towards Ruderszell along the state road. At Ruderzell, turn right and walk through the forest to the Tannerl Chapel. From there, continue towards the reservoir and then back to Rettenbach.
