Popular, panoramic circular route to Malerwinkel, Bavaria.
This route leads from the car park at Königssee (subject to a charge), past picturesque boathouses, along the Königsee into the Berchtesgaden National Park. Short and fairly easy to hike, it is ideal for families with children.
From the Königssee car park, head towards the lake area. From there, a path on the left leads past the boat huts and into the national park. Now the path leads up to the Malerwinkel, which rewards the ascent with magnificent views over the Königssee to the pilgrimage church of St. Bartholomä.
The circular trail then leads through the sparse mixed forest in two wide hairpin bends to another viewpoint. The route leads gently up and down (and only becomes steeper again towards the end) via the valley station of the Jennerbahn cable car back to the car park.
