This fantastic circular route through the idyllic mountains of the Berchtesgaden National Park starts at the middle station of the Jennerbahn. After the ascent from Königssee (subject to a charge, see tips), the route follows quite steeply uphill the Königsweg past the wasserfallalm and the Strubalm. The last stretch to the summit of the Jenner is via the Blitzweg in numerous serpentines up steeply to the mountain station of the Jennerbahn. At the summit of the Jenner, the tour's highest point is reached and rewarded with a magnificent view. The Jenneralm is a wonderful place to stop (note the season and opening times). Finally, the descent via the Mitterkaseralm begins with a worthwhile detour to the Vogelstein viewpoint.
Sturdy shoes are generally recommended, and good essential condition is required. Warm clothing should still be in your luggage, especially in May. The altitude should not be underestimated. There may still be small snowfields.
