Popular hike from Marquartstein in the Bavarian Chiemgau.
A beautiful route with great views from one of the most panoramic peaks in the Chiemgau Alps. The route follows a forest road to the Hochgernhaus and then continues on a narrow path. In spring it can be slippery when snowfields and thaw are encountered and just before the summit there is a short but steep grassy slope to overcome.
An unrivalled view of Lake Chiemsee and the foothills of the Alps awaits from the summit. And along the way, there are numerous fantastic views as far as the Loferer Steinberge, the Wilder and Tame Kaiser and the Kampenwand.
It is possible to stop off at the Agersgschwendt-Alm between May and October and at the Hochgernhaus all year round.
The start is at the Hochgern car park. The route is well signposted and can also be walked in winter in good weather conditions.
