This historically fascinating long-distance hike follows the route of the former Bockerlbahn, a historic narrow-gauge railway that was once built to transport timber after a severe windstorm in 1894. The trail opens up the gentle hilly landscape between Schliersee and Bayrischzell and runs almost entirely along the former railway line, which guarantees a very even, pleasant gradient. A central highlight is the view of the Wendelstein and the surrounding peaks of the Mangfall Mountains, as well as the numerous information boards documenting the pioneering achievement of the railway construction. The route is technically easy and, due to the firm ground, is usually easily accessible all year round.
