Schliersee-Tegernsee

This classic Bavarian pre-alpine tour connects two of the most beautiful lakes in the Oberland. The trail starts in Schliersee and leads over the high plateau of the Gindelalmen down to Tegernsee. The route runs along a varied mix of wide forest roads, steep forest paths and gentle alpine meadows. A key highlight is the 360-degree view from the Gindelalmschneid (1,335 m), from where you can see both the state capital of Munich and the peaks of the Karwendel mountains on a clear day. In the mixed mountain forests, chamois, alpine choughs and various birds of prey can be observed, while the cows on the alpine pastures characterise the typical soundscape in summer. The route includes a decent climb at the start, but is one of the most popular routes for day trippers thanks to the good railway connections at both ends (Bayerische Regiobahn).
