The route lives up to its promise. Again and again, marvellous views of the various natural landscapes of the Eifel open up before you. You also get a lot of information about mining - especially if you pay a visit to the mining museum in Mechernich. But also on the route itself, for example at the "Kallmuther Berg open-cast mine" viewpoint, you get a fascinating view of the disused lead ore mining area and the landscapes behind it.

This beautiful circular walk begins and ends at Mechernich railway station. From here, the route first leads to Katzvey, where a former Roman quarry can be found not far away. The route then continues along the Roman canal path to Breitenbenden.
