This beautiful circular walk begins and ends at Mechernich railway station. From here, the route first leads to Katzvey, where a former Roman quarry can be found not far away. The route then continues along the Roman canal path to Breitenbenden. Stage 2 of the long-distance hiking trail "Römerkanal-Wanderweg", North Rhine-Westphalia. This is the second stage of the varied, approximately 115 km long Roman Canal Trail, which follows the course of a canal constructed by the Romans in the 1st century from Nettersheim through the High Fens-Eifel Nature Park to Sülz.
