Three so-called ‘A’ circular walks run through the Heissiwald, an idyllic stretch of woodland on the Ruhr Hills in Essen. Circular walk A2 is the middle of the three routes and is well suited to a lovely walk in the woods with children, though it is not suitable for pushchairs. The route circles the Heissiwald game reserve, where you can observe wild sheep, fallow deer and wild boar at close quarters, amongst other animals.

Although this "normal" version is significantly less demanding, at approx. 42 km and over 700 metres in altitude, it is more challenging than most permanent routes!!!
