The route follows the Emstal valley and sections of the 100 Castles Route. The ground conditions include gravel paths and tarmac country roads in hilly terrain and flat marshland. Viewpoints can be found at the Dörenther Klippen and the Nasses Dreieck waterway junction. The vegetation includes riverside flora along the riverbanks and dense sections of forest. Weatherproof clothing is appropriate for the exposed canal embankments and raised ridges.
