Best lake trails in Eschenlohe

Refreshing hiking trail in Eschenlohe, Bavaria. This picturesque route leads from Eschenlohe through the Eschenlain valley to Lake Walchensee. This is one of the deepest and largest alpine lakes in Germany. It is therefore worth making a detour to or even around the lake. The hike can easily be started from Eschenlohe railway station. After starting in Eschenlohe, the route leads through the Eschenlain valley, then over the Simetsberg up to the Walchensee viewpoint. Then with a trail option down to Wallgau. From there, bike up into the picturesque Finztal valley and reward your efforts with a stop at the Esterbegalm. After the rest, the route takes you downhill on refreshing tarmac/gravel to Garmisch and then along the picturesque and quiet "Ursprungsweg" to Eschenlohe. From Eschenlohe around the Herzogsstand. This variant leads along the rocky path. The highest point of the tour is 935 metres above sea level, making it a good spring or late autumn tour. On the ascent just before the Kesselbergsattel near Urfeld, there is a short stretcher section. The section directly on the B11 is of course very busy in good weather! Also be sure to ride the loop around the Walchensee peninsula - the colour of the lake here is gigantic!

This tour includes the "difficult ascent to Windwurfeck" (not really worthwhile). Long ascent to the three marks with beautiful views of the Murnauer Moos, steep descent to Unterammergau, along the Ammer via Oberammergau back up to the Bärenbadflecken. From the motorway exit Eschenlohe (625m) in the direction of Höllenstein (630m). Shortly before the motorway exit, turn right towards Ettaler Mandl. Always follow the signs. After approx. 7km turn right steeply up into the forest, first on a cart track, later on a narrow path. You end up near Bärenbadflecken. From there, take a detour to the Soile Alm (1325m).
