Stage 8 of the long-distance hiking trail "Donau-Zollernalb-Weg", Baden-Württemberg. The Schwäbischer Albverein's cross-country trail is marked with a red diamond. It leads from Margarethausen over the Heersberg up towards Schalksburg Castle. There it meets another hiking trail that leads directly to the Schalksburg ruins viewpoint. Here you can enjoy both historical insights and scenic views. There is a barbecue area next to the ruins where you can take a cosy break.

Starting in Pfeffingen, the first part of the World Cup route is quite technically demanding. The route then continues with a number of climbs and descents around Albstadt. The route is characterised by an "infinite" number of hairpin bends.

The Albtrauf Trail starts in the centre of Tailfingen, in front of the Volksbank Tailfingen and leads via a short start circuit directly to the sprint special classification at the "Brauereitreppe". Once at the top, it's a few metres through the residential area and then off into the terrain. This is a relatively long loop around the town of Tailfingen (and others such as Onstmettingen and Pfeffingen). It explores the fields, forests, hills and towns of the area and leads in and out of different environments. It also passes various local mountain peaks, including the Hornau and Kornberg, both of which are almost 900 metres high. Due to the length of the route, it is best tackled by bike.
