Popular hike in the Harz Nature Park, Thuringia.
This hike starts at the Dreilaenderstein, the former border point during the division of Germany and since 1990 the border between Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. From here you hike along the former inner-German border, over the Ehrenberg to the Walkenried monastery. Since the monastery was dissolved in the 16th century, only the ruins of the monastery church remain today. A Cistercian museum has been housed in the well-preserved cloister building since 2006.
