The trail begins and ends in Wyk auf Föhr, near the ferry port that connects the island to the mainland. Almost the entire route moves near the shore. The island is circumnavigated clockwise.
The Ölhorn lighthouse is still in Wyk am Föhr, on the island's southeast corner. Past this, continue along the beach promenade. There are several bathing spots along the way, including some nudist beaches. At the mouth of the Godel, it goes inland for a short time, then along the shore again. Just after passing the northwest corner, the exciting facilities of the water pumping station can be seen. Again and again, you can see the bird cabins on the way: small bodies of water surrounded by a small forest, inside which there was a trap for wild ducks.
