Winter hike in Saxon Switzerland: Rosenthal-Bielatal - Katzstein

This serene loop trail introduces visitors to the left bank of the Elbe River within the Saxon Switzerland region near Rosenthal-Bielatal. Starting from the forested edges of the district, the path connects distinct sandstone formations and mesa tops including the Spitzstein, Lampertstein, Katzstein, and Signal. Natural soil paths and quiet woodland tracks weave along the route, leading past historical engineering points such as the Neuteich pond, created centuries ago for timber rafting. A climb up iron ladders, installed on historical wooden steps from the late nineteenth century, brings visitors to the summit of Spitzstein. Panoramic views open up toward the towering Děčínský Sněžník and the iconic tabletop mountains of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains.
