This is the track of a hike to the three sources of the Spree. Start of the hike to Löbau station. Destination of the hike to Neugersdorf station. The oldest, historically proven source of the Spree is the Spreeborn in Ebersbach. In 1887 Generalfeldmarschall von Moltke confirmed this on the basis of old military maps. The abundance of water in the Spreeborn was lost due to construction work. The sources of the Spree at Kottmar and Neugersdorf were not named until later. Of the Spree springs, the Spree spring on the Kottmar is the highest. The source of the Spree at Volksbad Neugersdorf was originally located on the Neugersdorfer Pfarrwiesen. When the public baths were built, the source of the Spree was relocated and the spring water was supplied via a pipeline. Also worth seeing on the hike are the Höllengrund, Höllengrund Viaduct and numerous views with distant views when the weather is nice.
