Dresden: Linkselbische Tälertour

Interesting, extensive hiking route in Dresden, Saxony. It goes to the German Elbflorenz to Dresden, which has a lot to offer the visitor with palaces, castles, lakes, vineyards and complex nature. Start is at the train station Dresden-Cossebaude. It goes in the direction of the Oberwartha storage lake and the town of the same name. Then north to Meißener Straße, in order to hike through three sections in the course of this long route, which lets the eye discover so many great things that surprise and amaze you: This is how it goes along the Meissner orchard, you hike through the beautiful areas of Nieder- and Oberwartha, comes to Scharfenberg Castle, which can be reached from the Elbe Cycle Path and is located below the town of the same name. The Seusslitz and Gauernitz grounds are circumnavigated and you discover the tiny Gauernitz Elbe island directly on the river. You can also see an old manor near Pegenau and walk along the beautiful Cossebaude reservoir. Later you come through the Wolfsschlucht, past the castles of Batzdorf, Gauernitz and Weistropp. The circular route concludes with a visit to the White Castle and the nearby Herrenkuppe mountain, where the Bismark Tower, which is well worth seeing, offers a magnificent view of the vineyards. Accessible by bus and train. There are places to stop for refreshments along the route.
