This is a scenic hike through the forest in the Saar loop near Mettlach. As the start and finish are right next to the Saar, the marvellous views of the river can be enjoyed right from the start. The beautiful Saar loop can also be travelled by boat. The highlight of the route is the medieval ruins of Montclair Castle, where the Celts built a castle complex as early as 500 BC. Refreshments are available en route and at the castle.
The route starts at the paid car park at the market in Mettlach. It is also possible to travel comfortably by train to Mettlach railway station and by bus to the boat landing stage.
