Saar-Hunsrück-Steig Stage 14: Herrstein - Forellenhof Reinhardtsmühle

This route follows stage 14 of the certified Saar-Hunsrück-Steig premium trail, connecting Herrstein with the Forellenhof Reinhardtsmühle on a fairly leisurely section. Exploring the historic center of Herrstein is highly recommended before setting out. The first few miles run parallel to the Mittelalterpfad premium loop trail through beautiful forests and across ridges with wonderful views. After crossing the Hosenbach Valley, the trail offers a scenic mix of wide panoramic vistas and dense forest structures. Near the village of Sonnschied, several magnificent viewpoints overlook the Hahnenbach Valley before the descent begins. In the lower section, the path follows the course of the Steinbach stream to the small village of Rudolfshaus. From there, the route continues for another 800 meters parallel to the Hahnenbach river to finish at the Forellenhof Reinhardtsmühle estate. Cozy refreshments and excellent accommodations are available in the historic center of Herrstein as well as directly at the stage destination at the Forellenhof Reinhardtsmühle; wild camping is prohibited.
