This circular route is a certified premium hiking trail.
The route starts behind the Loreley visitor center at the summer toboggan run. There is paid parking here. From there it goes to the Rheinterrasse with a great view of the Rhine Valley and the Rheinfels Castle on the opposite bank of the Rhine.
The Loreley Extratour accompanies the Rhine on its way north, while you walk on the towpath, which finally leads steeply uphill towards Patersberg. On this stretch there are always beautiful views of the Rhine and Katz Castle. Behind Patersberg the descent into the valley takes place through the Forstbachtal. Legendary plays of light are created on picturesque paths in almost every position of the sun. The listed Bornsmühle is idyllically situated in the Forstbach valley.
The path then leads uphill again to another plateau near Bornich with a wonderfully far-reaching view over the Rhine including the Taunus and Hunsrück. From here the hiker follows the Rheinsteig to the destination.
