Moselsteig Stage 5: Trier - Schweich

This route follows stage 5 of the Moselsteig, connecting the Roman city of Trier with Schweich on a particularly scenic section. The hike begins with a spectacular cliff path directly along the ridge, offering sweeping panoramic views of Trier's ancient monuments and the winding Moselle Valley. As the trail continues, it leads through lovely forests, past blooming meadows, and alongside idyllic orchards before finally reaching Schweich on the Roman Wine Route (Römische Weinstraße). Overnight stays are available in the numerous hotels and guesthouses in Trier or Schweich; wild camping is prohibited. Refreshments can be found in both stage towns as well as in the local restaurants along the route, perfect for rounding off the day.
