Moselsteig Stage 3: Nittel - Konz

This route follows the third stage of the Moselsteig and connects Nittel with Konz along a geologically fascinating stretch between the Saar and Mosel rivers. The hike is notable for the steep limestone cliffs of the Nitteler Felsen Nature Reserve, which were formed over 200 million years ago by the Triassic Sea and today offer impressive insights into the Earth’s history. A botanical highlight near the route is the orchid meadow with its rare wildflowers, before the trail leads down through wooded paths and a historic Way of the Cross to the Saar estuary in Konz, where the Roscheider Hof open-air museum invites visitors to explore. Overnight stays are available at hotels and guesthouses in Nittel or Konz; wild camping is prohibited. Places to stop for refreshments can be found in both towns as well as at local restaurants along the route.
