Moselsteig Stage 13: Traben-Trarbach - Reil

This route follows stage 13 of the Moselsteig, connecting the Art Nouveau town of Traben-Trarbach with the idyllic wine village of Reil on a particularly panoramic section. Right at the start, the path leads up steep switchbacks to the romantic ruins of Grevenburg Castle, which offers an expansive view over the Moselle Valley. A cultural highlight of the hike is the visit to Enkirch, often called the treasure chest of Rhenish half-timbered architecture, before the trail continues downstream through sunny vineyards to the stage destination in Reil. Overnight stays are available in the hotels of Traben-Trarbach or in the cozy guesthouses and wineries in Enkirch and Reil; wild camping is prohibited. Refreshments can be found at the Grevenburg Castle restaurant as well as in the numerous seasonal wine taverns (Straußwirtschaften) in the villages along the route. Transport is excellently facilitated by the train stations in Traben-Trarbach and Reil (Moselwein-Bahn RB 85), offering regular connections to the Bullay rail hub; schedules and transit information can be found at https://www.vrt-info.de.
